Sunday services

On Sundays at 10.30am we come together as a church family to worship God.  We were created to be in relationship with God who loves us and longs to see us fulfil our potential.  Musical worship, Bible teaching and exploration, and prayer ministry are important elements of our Sunday mornings together.

We are committed to exploring the Bible together, and helping each other to live out what God is saying through it.

Community is really important to us.  We believe that as a church family God calls us to journey with each other through life, bringing our hopes, fears, struggles, gifts, time and resources, so that we might help and serve each other.

We have one main service on Sundays, which lasts about an hour and a half.

Our musical worship has a variety of styles.  We sing contemporary songs written by, for example, Matt Redman, Darlene Zschech, Hillsong, Stuart Townend, Tim Hughes and Chris Tomlin.  We also sing classic hymns written by, for example, Charles Wesley, John Newton and Eleanor Hull.

Every service has a Bible-based focus.  All sermons are recorded and can be accessed on  this website.  Recognizing that not everyone learns in the same way, we sometimes use more audio-visual or interactive learning.

Children and Young People

Children and young people are very important to us at St Augustine's.

Children, young people and adults begin together with all-age worship and learning for the first 20-30 minutes.
The children and young people then go to different parts of the building for age-related groups.
On Holy Communion Sundays they rejoin
the adults for this part of the service.

On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month we share Communion together.  During the school holidays, when there are no children's groups, some of these services become All-Age Services.

After the service, there is the opportunity to get to know each other better over tea, coffee and refreshments.  This is free.  There is also table tennis and pool available.

Everyone is welcome.  Our worship area is large, with plenty of room to move around at the back or sides.  There is a creche for under 3s in the church lounge, with excellent toilet and baby-changing facilities adjacent.
